Anyone updating their portfolio tomorrow can make use of the latest ETF rankings. Concentrate on ETFs that are outperforming the SHY or even SHY and VTI.
The Gauss portfolio is gradually beginning to take the shape of a momentum oriented portfolio. Based on August 21 data, ETFs currently held in the Gauss and outperforming SHY are the following: VHT, VIS, VBK, VBR, BRK-B (the lone individual stock), VOE, IWN, VOT, VTI, and VTV. VHT is a sector ETF and not a commission free security from TDAmeritrade. I will hold it so long as it outperforms SHY. However, when it drops below SHY it is permanently gone from the portfolio. Same with VIS. IWN is almost identical to VOE and VBR so it will be sold from the portfolio when its performance drops below SHY.
